Pilar's barometer of Croatian society began in 2008 but was only conducted again in 2009 due to a lack of financial resources. As part of the Institute’s ongoing research activities, Pilar's barometer, financed by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports was continued in 2014, 2015, 2016 and hopefully will be regularly implemented every year.

Although this research is focused primarily on gathering empirical data for scientific publication, results may be of interest not only to professionals, but also to the general public. For this reason, results are shown on this website in a simple form.

Pilar's barometer only marginally covers the problems that are the research orientations of surveys with a similar name (Cro barometer, Cro demoskop, Eurobarometer). The range of themes in Pilar's barometer is different and wider because of its purposes. Thematic areas will be changed every year, with occasional repetition of those topics that allow the monitoring of relevant social trends.

This site will be updated once a year (and changed depending on the amount and type of new materials) so that users can obtain required information in the simplest possible way. In addition, we would like these sites to be visited not only for their content, but also to become the starting point from which results of other public (online) available empirical studies of contemporary Croatian society can be obtained. Therefore, we invite you to collaborate, if you have access to similar results that have been already published (for example, on your own web page) or if you are willing to share results, please contact us. In addition, please send us a link following presentation and/or citation of these results in the media and scientific periodicals so that we can eventually compile a separate bibliographic section.
